COMMUNITY KITS
Community Kits started with a simple mission: to spread joy and kindness during the holidays and beyond.
Each Thanksgiving, we would build bags of essential hygiene and food items, and set off on a journey to hand them out to the unhoused community in our neighborhood in New York. Last year, we welcomed our Friendsgiving guests into our holiday tradition and assembled 200 kits, which we donated to the Bowery Mission.
Last May, we hosted our first-ever Community Kits event at Black Crescent on the Lower East Side, where we will built 400 kits for donation through the Coalition for the Homeless. These kits were distributed via their Grand Central Food Program. The GCFP is the largest mobile soup kitchen in America, serving between 800 - 1200 people a day from New York’s unhoused community.
Now, we are hoping to expand our network of kit builders so that we can provide essentials to communities is need year-round… and hope you will join us!
